The wind had backed in the night to the south and as such our sheltered spot became slightly exposed,
so capt. Jules decided an early start was in order. I was still in bed, woken by the engine starting,
it being about 18" from my head.
Entrance to Scariff Harbour - blocked.
We motored to Scariff Harbour, but found the main horbour closed. It had been due to be re-opened a few
days earlier, but it still looked a long way from being open. So we sailed back down the river, and
had a good sail in gusty conditions down to Killaloe.
Ronnie at the helm and the navigation table.
On reaching the harbour after sailing down the river, we found the engine failed to start, so had a tricky mooring
in a strong current under sail. After bleeding the engine started fine. Spent a few hours re-provisioning and
cleaning up. Howard found some toilets in a hotel leisure centre that we easily accessible.
Went out to 'Ma Reddans' for to
sample the 'best Guinness in Irelend', which I found to be quite ordinary. A rather merry Irish gent
befriended Howard. We then sampled a second pint in the pub opposite, and went back across the bridge
to a pub for a cracking meal. Then to bed.
